Since 2006, the Fight HIV Your Way contests presented by REYATAZ have provided a unique opportunity for people infected with or affected by HIV to express how they fight HIV. In our past two contests, participants have submitted photographs and essays that embodied their personal fights against HIV and the winning entries were featured in exhibits across the country.

For the third installment of the contest, Bristol-Myers Squibb wanted to take the contest to a whole new level. We wanted to take the powerful photos and stories we received and do more than display them, we wanted to bring them to life. We wanted them to motivate a movement literally. That's when we approached the legendary Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater with the idea to use the winning entries to inspire a new dance work and perform it across the country during their national tour.

The Company agreed to bring our vision to life and enlisted renowned dance visionary Rennie Harris to choreograph the work. Since the contest launched on
World AIDS Day, December 1, 2010, more than 1,300 photos and essays from across the country were narrowed down to ten exceptional first place winners. These stories serve as inspiration behind the new work, "Home," and stem from geographically diverse communities and illustrate the impact and breadth of the HIV epidemic in the United States.

This world premiere debuted on World AIDS Day, December 1st, 2011 in New York City and will be performed during the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's 2011 World Premiere and 2012 National Tour.

The collection of words and photographs submitted over the years represent the voice of those with the courage to fight. As long as the fight against HIV continues, we are committed to bringing you the Fight HIV Your Way contest so that the voice will continue to be heard.
